There are two major lessons to be gained from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Alice Wong, creator and director of the Special needs Presence project First, we need to stop striving for a go back to some kind of pre-COVID ‘normality’, due to the fact that actually, it wasn’t that fantastic for everyone. Rather, it left many people out of the discussion about how to solve the crisis– marginalized individuals, researchers, people with impairments.

The second lesson is that we now have an opportunity to reassess the world, to re-envision the future and this time, we, as an international neighborhood, can’t afford to turn anybody away.
